A little preparation goes a long way.

Bring layers
Mornings can be cool, afternoons bright. A light layer and sun protection make all the difference.

Look beyond elephants
Keep watch for painted storks, mugger crocodiles, spotted deer, water buffalo, toque macaques and the flash of a crested serpent eagle.

Leave only footprints
We keep a respectful distance, never feed wildlife and carry all waste back out of the park.

Udawalawe National Park is rewarding year-round, making it perfect for your Udawalawe wildlife tour. The dry season from May to September often brings larger herds closer to the reservoir, while the green season (October to January) brings dramatic landscapes and migratory birds.
